Abaris

ABARIS (gr. Ábaris)

in Greek mythology Hyperborean, (see HYPERBOREANS), friend and relative of islanders from Delos [1], thaumaturgist and prophetic priest of ➚ Apollo, from whom he obtained a golden arrow. He traveled across Greece carrying this divine symbol, eating nothing [2] and preaching prophecies [3]. According to another version Abaris, thanks to his Apollonian arrow, could fly around the world and met Pythagoras, whom he recognized as the embodiment of Apollo [4,5].
